Event Description:  The trail will pass many historic and significant buildings including the State House which is the second oldest in continuous use, the two American Revolution battle sites in Trenton, the first skyscraper in New Jersey, the Old Barracks Museum, oldest house in Trenton, the Battle Monument and the shakey bridge - a replica of the first suspension bridge built by Roebling at Niagara. Some of the route is in Stacy Park designed by Frederick Law Olmstead. The dome atop the state house has undergone a two year $11 million renovation including new gold leaf. It is a city walk mainly on sidewalks and some bike paths.

Directions:
     The start point at KATMANDU is just south of Route 1 along the Delaware River. If in doubt, follow yellow signs for "Mercer County Waterfront Park" (baseball stadium) which is next door. Route 29 from the south is under construction for major renovations. Follow I-295 to Route 1. Route 1 approach - It is 7 miles from the Jct of I-95/I-295 with Route 1 to the start. Exit 67B from I-295 to Route 1 South. Route 1 splits after 1 mile. Take LEFT branch "Trenton/Philadelphia," Exit Rt 1 in Trenton at "33 East/Market Street/State Street exit. There are two left only lanes at the exit. Get in the right one. Left at end of ramp on Stockton Street, then immediate right on Market St. Just after Wm. Trent Place access Rt. 29 SOUTH by looping under Rt. 29. Go under three bridges. Make first right as expressway ends into start. From I-95 Pennsylvania - NJ exit 1 = Rt. 29 South. Take Rt. 29 for 5.8 miles. When expressway ends, right at Warren Street light into start. From East: I-195 WEST to I-295 NORTH for Route 1 approach. From NJ Turnpike North or South: Exit 7A to I-195 WEST to I-295 NORTH, exit 67B for Route 1 approach. From South - I-295 NORTH to exit 67B, Route 1 approach. From Route 1 in PA - Immediate RIGHT after crossing Delaware River for "29 South." You will be on Warren. Cross 29 at light into start parking lot.

Comments:
      While this is a 10K walk, there will be a 5K route that will visit the Capitol. The trail may be walked a second time on your own on the same day for additional distance credit. **Club members will excort groups on the hour and half hour from 10am to noon. Groups must finish by 3pm. Maps, written directions and historical notes will be available for groups wishing to walk on their own. We are discouraging participants from walking alone as it is easy to get lost and some areas near the trail are not as safe as the designated route. This walk is suitable for small wheeled strollers. The event will be held regardless of weather conditions, but keep in mind that severe weather will increase the trail difficulty. Please, no littering along the trail. Pets welcome if leashed and cleaned up after. The award will be a round medal of the "What Trenton Makes, The World Takes" bridge. 100 will be offered on a first come basis to participants paying the appropriate fees. Special note: We will raffle one pair of New Balance shoes to eligible walkers! Restrooms will be available at the start/finish and at the Visitors Center (7K). Water and hard candy will be available at the start point and checkpoints. The KATMANDU will be serving breakfast from 8am to 11:30am and lunch from 11:30am to 3:00pm. (609-393-7300) STAYING OVER?
