In New Jersey we speak of " down the shore." This is one beautiful island down the shore. Register at Ship Bottom (pick up the flyer on the history of the Barnegat Lighthouse), drive through the towns of Surf City, North Beach, Harvey Cedars and Loveladies to Barnegat Light to the walk start at Kubel's Restaurant on 7th and Bayview. Enjoy the trail to the Barnegat Lighthouse (1835). The lighthouse is open for climbing the entire year: Memorial Day to Labor Day 9 - 4:30, the rest of the year 9-3:30. For hours at Lighthouse Museum verify at 609-494-2016.

Wa Wa Food Market, 202 Central Ave. Ship Bottom, NJ on Long Beach Island. 609-361-2483 .Garden State Parkway N or S to Exit 63. 7 miles on Route 72 East to Ship Bottom. Wa Wa is on the corner of Route 72 and Central Ave.
From here an 8 mile ride to the actual walk start point at Kubel's Restaurant in Barnegat Light 609-494-8592. Parking at Kubel's is available in the lot and there is street parking across from bay and docks.
