TRAIL HIGHLIGHTS: The 10k is a combination of flat sidewalks with some small hills, another portion on wooded trail along the Farmington River, and one steep rocky trail section which leads to a scenic cliff overlooking the Village. Tariffville is a "Census Designated Place" within the town of Simsbury. This 19th century village is on the national Register of Historic Places and its eight square blocks are as they were originally laid out in the 1820s. The town got its name from the Tariff Manufacturing Company that built a brick mill on the river in 1825 to weave carpets. This was the first carpet mill in the country.

TRAIL RATING:
The 10k trail is rated 3B and not recommended for strollers/wheelchairs, while the 5k option is
rated 1A and easy accessible.

DIRECTIONS:
FROM I-91N/S: Exit 40 for Rt. 20. Go west 9 mi. to Granby and south on Rt. 10 for almost
6 mi. (name changes to Hopmeadow St., in town). Turn left into Drake Hill Shopping Center.
FROM I-84: Exit 39 to Rt.4 to Farmington. Turn right (north) on Rt. 10 for 11 mi.
(name changes to Hopmeadow St. in town). Turn right into Drake Hill Shopping Center.
NOTE: After registering, you must drive north on Rt.10 and east on Rt. 315 to the start
of the walk at The Mill (intersection of Tunxis Rd., and Rt. 189).
